Final Sync – Automatically Synchronize Your Files!
I just converted an AVI video file to MP4 using a video converter and opened the file on to itunes. However, when I try and sync the MP4 movie file with my ipod touch, it says the file format is not supported by the ipod touch and cannot sync.
Do you know why this is and how I can fix this?
Thanks
In response to ‘NONE’, the video is in Japanese with english subtitles hard coded. The version on itunes would not be subtitled in english.
Oh, baby, you should know iPod touch just supports some special mp4, not all, such as 640×480 mp4(avc/h.264 video encoder, aac audio encoder) format is the best video format for iPod touch, so you need a right converter to convert your mp4 videos to right iPod touch mp4 videos. I am using RZ Video Converter which can convert any videos or audios between different formats with good quality, such as convert any mp4 videos to iPod touch mp4 videos, then you can transfer the converted mp4 to itunes, and sync it to iPod touch. Try it by yourself. Yahoo or google search and download rz video converter. Hope it can help you.
I have 4 external hard drives with movies, music, documents, and photos. I also have a laptop and a desktop, all with basically the same folders, but the files are slightly different. I would like to find a program where I am able to select two folders from any of the drives and do the following:
- Place missing files from one folder into the other while not touching the files that are the same
- Sync two folders, putting missing files from both folders into the other folder, while not touching files that are the same
I’d like to install the program on one computer and just connect the external hard drives to it. Thanks!
you have a lot of hardware and lots of files
what i do is just connect and exchange, either with bluetooth, infa, cable or wireless cant you just do that?
i converted a video using a youtube converter, then i used leawo converter to mpeg 4 (mp4), then i dragged the completed file to my windows media player to sync it to my mp3 player, but it kept saying error…i tired several different mp4 formats but none worked.
Its very frustrating, so i was wondering if anyone had suggestions?
Thank you for your time!
common mp4 can’t be supported by walkman because it has strict mp4 video size requirements.
try professional walkman video converter:

There is a copy in the Pocket PC sync folder, but I have to store another copy on the network shared folder. Can those two files be synced automatically when I synch my Pocket PC?
hi,
Yes you can.
Depending on what Pocket PC you have, dictates exactly how you do this, but basically you need to install the software that came with you Pocket PC on you desktop, and connect them using the cable supplied, and set up a relationship between them.
You can then work out sync methods, normally want to sync based on timestamp, but make sure the time is right on both, or you may get “unwanted results”.
Hope this helps

I would also like to use it like a file server that can accessed from multiple locations, kind of like a shared drive on the net….I don’t mind paying for a very easy to use system without a ton of limitations on uploadable file size or gross storage size…
I am looking for a cross platform (namely Windows, and Linux) program that will do what dropbox does, that I can use my own web/ftp server to back the files up to. Does anyone know of such a program? Thanks
I use two programs which together do what you’re after, I think. Firstly WebDrive (www.webdrive.com). This allows you to expose any remote file system accessed through a very wide range of protocols (including FTP, SSH and WebDAV, also Amazon and others) as a Windows drive letter (there is also a Beta Mac version which presumably makes the protocol look like a local disk, but I haven’t tried it).
Then I use SynchronizeIt (www.grigsoft.com) to backup my files. This is capable of doing syncs to FTP built in, so if that’s all you need you may only need the one program – but if you want other protocols or want something other than a synchronisation (e.g. manual copying), as I do, then WebDrive is a really handy companion.
Microsoft also provide SyncToy free, which is similar, but more heavy handed and doesn’t have FTP built in.
Both of these can either accumulate files on the target (i.e. never delete anything) or keep the file systems in exact sync (which is probably not what you want if you accidentally delete a file). So you can archive as well as backup this way.
What I don’t know of is a sync client for Linux that uses FTP etc, but I’m sure there must be one.
This solution isn’t doing a live transfer as Dropbox does – you have to initiate it either manually or as a scheduled action. But then DropBox requires you to identify which files by reorganising your file system.
I have a feeling Norton Ghost will do continuous backups (i.e. backup after a change, but I’m not certian). That also works over FTP and would work with WebDrive for other protocols.
What is the best way to Synchronize a networked desktop and laptop, without using Briefcase? I am not really interested in buying third party software if Windows XP can do this well. But if there is software that can do this better, then I would like to know which one(s). Thanks.
I would suggest using offline folders to syncronize. share the info on one machine and use the option of making folders available offline.
i have purchased new seagate 500GB External HDD. it contains Memeo Auto Sync Software for file sync. it is very usefull . but it will be work for 30 days of trial. i try to purchase the software it cost is very high ( $29.95). i want a free file sync software.
kindly help me…
I am looking for a p2p file syncing software that can transfer at least a 10gb file. Kinda like a samba share over the internet. If I could mount it as a drive that’d be awesome. And, if possible, one with ftp access and remote desktop. I tried Live Mesh but there’s the 5gb limit. I tried Live Sync but it messes with my local samba shares. Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased a family guy episode about 3 weeks ago on itunes. I had about 7 tv shows that i purchased in the past that synced to my ipod touch that i got for xmas without a problem, but the one i purchased about 3 weeks ago will not sync. the box next to the file is checked, and it still doesn’t show up on the itouch. Is there something i can do? or possibly a manual way to add files to my ipod?
